Meditation - Cleansing the mind

Many people feel they simply cannot meditate because they are unable to sit without a thought. And that is correct! None of us can sit for very long in thoughtlessness. Meditation in Kundalini yoga is very different and people leave feeling very successful.

“There are two ways of living in this world; the way of worry and the way of relaxation. If you worry, you have to concentrate to imagine, and it becomes physical work. But if you turn your mind to the Universal Mind, then things will come to you.” YB

Meditation is simply cleansing the mind. It is the art of breaking habits to purify the mind and take care of your daily activities. It is not about not having any thoughts. It is simply using proven tools like breath, mantra and/or awareness to observe these thoughts and break a pattern. Through practice we develop the art of cultivating the neutral mind.

Benefits of Meditation

Develops the Neutral Mind.

Takes us from a finite to an Infinite perception of reality, by connecting us to Source.

Resolves core habitual pattern.

Develops the frontal lobe of the brain, which controls your personality.

Meditation is the process of controlling and transcending the incessant thought waves of the mind. Meditation is terrific practice for everyone. Through the use of various techniques like breath or mantra, meditation creates a communication between you and your mind, and between your mind and your body. Meditations which use mantra, work on the upper palate of the mouth, which controls the autonomic system and the impulses of the old brain and limbic systems.

Why do we Meditate with mantra, silently or out loud? When we try to control the mind, allot of thoughts come to us. Trying to stop these thoughts is like trying to stop a hurricane by blowing at it with your breath. It’s impossible. Also, our negative mind is the first and the fastest component of our mind. Most thoughts come through that filter of the negative or protective mind. The use of the mantra can cut right through the center of these continuous thought forms. We pick a mantra, usually words of high vibration, positive meaning and words of great reverence, that are able to uplift our conscious and subconscious mind.

Everybody is different and each of us has a certain capacity to handle stress. We must fit in at the frequency of our mind and our body. We have to bring the two together to find out who we really are and to live a happy, fulfilled and successful life. When we use the mantra, it helps us stop the continuous chatter of the monkey mind. Remember it is NOT meditation that is stopping the mind, it is the surrender of the mind to the soul and thus to the Truth. Surrendering to infinite Source energy.
